Top Shares of Iron and Steel (Basic materials) IBEX 35

Human beings use many raw materials for different purposes and two of the most used are iron and steel. Some degree of confusion may exist between these two materials due to their resemblance and similar utility. The big difference between iron and steel is the carbon that we find in steel while not in iron. This carbon is added to iron (and other metallic and non-metallic materials) thus creating steel. And why is charcoal added? Because it provides greater resistance to matter.

Indeed, steel comes from iron, but iron is not used almost in its pure state because it oxidizes very quickly and there are other harder metals such as copper. So why is it used so much? Because it is the second most present and abundant metal on planet Earth and that is why almost all of it is converted into steel by adding carbon that provides that resistance that it lacks by itself.

Iron is also not obtained from nature as it is, since it is found within other minerals, so an extraction process must be carried out. This is done through the magnetization or density system.

The great advantage of these materials is the quantity of them that we can find in nature and, above all, their eternal recycling, thus allowing new products to be created with old material without it losing its attributes and quality.

In modern life we find iron and steel almost everywhere we look: public constructions, buildings, heavy machinery, medical equipment, transportation... this is due to its great resistance mentioned above and its ability to withstand weather and other situations.
