Throughout history, human beings have used the materials provided by mother nature and that have served us to survive and evolve as a species. Knowing how to take advantage of the characteristics of each element has allowed us to live in an advanced, comfortable and safe society compared to other species that, under other conditions, could end humanity.

One of the most used raw materials in the world by human beings is oil. Oil is a substance created from a set of hydrocarbons and is extracted from underground deposits through wells. This process must be carried out in this way because oil cannot be manufactured because it is a substance produced by pressure and high temperatures to which many organic compounds were subjected many years ago.

Being a non-renewable resource, it turns out to be very valuable for human beings, especially considering the large number of derivatives that arise thanks to its treatment and transformation. Petroleum derivatives are some substances and materials as basic today as gasoline, tar, plastics, paints, cosmetics, medicines, fabrics, explosives... a large number of objects that we need in our day to day.

Another of the substances that human beings have learned to use and that has been given to us by nature is natural gas. Most of its use is intended for the industry that uses it on a daily basis to be able to carry out their routine tasks. In these industries, natural gas is used mainly for industrial furnaces that are used to treat metals, bricks, glass, ceramics and other raw materials. It is also used for boilers that generate hot water and steam, widely used in the food sector. To a lesser extent, natural gas is also used as a raw material without the priority being heat generation, but rather the production of hydrogen, ethylene and methanol.

The next place where natural gas is used the most is homes. We could say that gas is necessary in houses to be able to achieve the temperature we want in different applications such as heating, hot water, cooking...
