In the world of finance we have two classes of companies if we divide them according to the economic state in which the world and the stock market are at that time. We talk about cyclical companies and non-cyclical or anti-cyclical ones. What do cyclical and non-cyclical companies have in common? That they depend on agents external to their company and that they have more favorable periods and more complicated periods. What is the difference between them? We could say that they are completely opposite companies (although there are always middle ground depending on the situation).

Cyclical companies are the beneficiaries of the fact that the world, or at least the richest countries, are in a situation of economic stability and enjoy a good financial period. In this type of company we find those that produce pleasure and people like to buy their products or consume their services, but they are not essential to be able to live day to day. It is logical to deduce that, therefore, these cyclical companies benefit from the good economic state of society. If people are economically secure, they consume more and a greater movement of non-essential goods and services is generated. Among them we can find cars, fashion clothes, leisure tourism sector, cinemas, home decoration, bars...

On the other side of the scale we find non-cyclical companies that have a more constant consumption of them during all economic periods. Why? Very simple, we cannot live without them. Not at least in today's society. Water, electricity, food, medicines... are products or services that we must have purchased or contracted every day of our lives and that, if our budget decreases, eliminating these products is not an option.
