Scientific instruments appeared in the 17th century, but even more so as a result of the industrial revolution, scientific instruments and machinery have been very important to be able to continue researching and for science to advance as well as our knowledge. The field of scientific instrumentation is very large since depending on what sector or branch you are studying you will need one or the other. As a curiosity, the endings of the instruments give us a clue as to what function they have: if they end in -scope it is because they are used to look at something and see very specific things that are difficult to see with the naked eye by the human eye; if they end in -meter it is because they measure what they are made for; and if they end in -tron they are quite complex instruments that are the result of modern science.
Society needs science to continue evolving and to be able to ensure a higher quality of life than what we had before. Quality of life is not a sure thing since, from one moment to another, the situation of the planet can change in environmental terms, a disease can appear and wreak havoc on the entire world, the raw materials that make all our comforts work can end and humanity must be prepared for what may happen.
